Apple Vs Samsung...What does it mean for you?

Apple and samsung have been at each others throats for quite awhile, and im not just speaking on ios vs. android. Im speaking Apple vs. Flagship devices of Samsung. Since the 2nd quarter of this year. I wanna say this started when Apple sued Samsung for "copying" the blueprint of the iPhone 3gs. Yes i jus double checked this. The original article ran in the wall Street Journal. Apple claims that samsung directly imitated the build, body and even patented single button layout of the 3gs. Now the phone they attempted to sue about was the original galaxy s. Not a variant. The very original with no body enhancements or anything. In this post im gonna shed some light on what this means for you, the consumer.

Now here's a bit of information the average consumer may not know, for quite some years now Samsung has been producing the soc's for apple and the iphones, and now ipads. They also produce the beautiful retina Screens that are now on the iphones. So when you think about it, apple is suing the company who BUILDS your phone. I mean without the chip, your phone doesnt work....and without your screen...what are you typing, reading, or watching? This lawsuit also included this statement "Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple's technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products."  What apple was stating is that the android skin that samsung uses known as touchwiz, is very similar to iOs in its entirety...Which may be a true statement. In my opinion if you sit the two devices directly next to each other run both os for a few seconds, there are similarities. But here's my opinion about the original lawsuit that has sparked many since then, The galaxy s? Had a larger screen so in terms of build, and even depth you can't sue on those terms. And how can you sue those who assist in the building of your handsets?

Before i continue, i must give some slight background on the well known company samsung. If you didnt know, samsung isnt just a brand, they have their mitts in quite a bit of things, besides their brand of phones, and tablets (and even computers and Televisions) they mass produce soc's and the excellent AMOLED technology. They produce soc's not only for apple and themselves, but for meizu. Meizu may not be large outside of China and japan, but in those countries they are a well known leader, so basically samsung is a well known leader...Just a statement. Samsung also has its brand of well know digital cameras of which they build, they were the first company to build a dual screen camera,   makes it easy to take self portraits, now ive never researched how well this camera sold, but i played with it myself, and it had a very fast boot time, it had facial recognition and a few other perks. I liked the camera myself. They also produce some beautiful televisions...those that Make you drool. They also do a bevy of other things, some say their sonys lil brother...or even a cheap mans sony...But i like to think they do a better job at technology.

But back to the impact of the battle of samsung and Apple and what it does to the consumer, thats us. This is my opinion and you may not agree with me but...Apple released the iphone 4s instead of the 5...When they let everyone think they 5 was gonna be announced...At this exact time Samsung and Apple happened to be in the thick of their disagreements samsung was saying if you release the 5 we'll do this, apple was saying that the galaxy tabs were very similar to the ipad...It was a bloodbath, to say it in simpler terms. SO the guys in Cupertino devise this excellent plan...Lets throw the a5 chip in the iphone...Find a new developer for a camera and re-release the 4...And the iphone 4s is born...Alongside iOs 5 and the most advanced voice assistant known to man...Siri.  Apple also did something that was long in waiting released iphones for everyone, consumers were finally blessed with unlimited everything on the now network (Sprint). Something that I like to say they had taken from Samsungs book...Samsung had made this move with the original Galaxy s Variants. Captivate and Fascinate were the gsm variants, And the epic was the Sprint variant, the only North American variant to receive a slide out keyboard.

Ever since this original lawsuit these two tech giants have went absolutely global, I like to call it The first Tech world war. They have battled on french soil, australian soil and just as recently in the Netherlands Where apple happend to first triump until samsung tweaked the os issues and was able to continue sales there. Today's ruling is an affirmation that the GALAXY range of products is innovative and distinctive. With regard to the single infringement cited in the ruling, we will take all possible measures including legal action to ensure that there is no disruption in the availability of our GALAXY smartphones to Dutch consumers. This ruling is not expected to affect sales in other European markets. Samsung has a proud history of innovation in the mobile industry. We will continue our plans to introduce new products and technologies that meet and exceed consumer expectations. And we will defend our intellectual property rights through the ongoing legal proceedings around the world. That statement released by samsung mobiles"s kim titus after this fiasco in the netherlands...And i guess this is true, sammy just announced 300 million mobile sales this past year...So i guess the feud isn't setting them back.

So to sum this up...this feud, for consumers means lapses in production, key handsets being pulled from shelves and even branding being reworked. This feud has slowed the production of the iPhone 5. Im pretty sure, and this is just from my standpoint, but I'm sure that the iPhone 5 would've been the first quad core phone out. With sammy being a leader in soc they would've made it happen for the boys in cupertino...But due to them feuding, lips have been tighly sealed and production slowed, if not halted altogether. Even in these times of feuding, apple has opened another contract with a 3rd party to assist in production of a5 chips just in case sammy cant keep up....which to me is a slap in the Face of sammy. But with sammy having their hands in quite a bit of pots it wont be a large setback. Meizu will be releasing the mx9 soon, and thats boasting the a9 chip and supposedly they have a quad core phone in the works, meizu that which sammy produces the chip for. Sammy has the galaxy nexus out, and for every carrier there are galaxy s variants. So try as apple might, they may win battles here and there, But samsungs world brand is an empire way too strong to defeat.
